A rapid series of announcements indicate just how strong of a priority expanding in India is for Nike. Already in October, the Swoosh announced a kit partnership with the Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful teams in cricket, and plans to open a new campus in the country. Now comes news of a running shoe designed specifically for the Indian market. The Nike Vegam Run is a brand-new running shoe made with insights from Indian athletes and an intent to be worn through both daily miles and anything else that comes in between. A full-length foam midsole carries some of the same visual cues as the Pegasus 42 and is paired with an engineered upper and “stacked” rubber outsole. “Our ambition with Vegam Run was simple: Honor the voice of the runner in India and build what they need,” Deepa Ramprasad, Nike Road Running Footwear senior director, said in a press release. “The result is a shoe that brings Nike Running cushioning, comfort and versatility to more athletes while reflecting our long-term commitment to growing sport in India.” From design brief to finished product, the Vegam Run was developed in just 55 days, a rapid escalation from the usual timeline
